Asus K42 Laptop Keyboard: Overview
The Asus K42 Laptop Keyboard is a black replacement keyboard for the Asus K42, A42 and K43 laptop families, for owners and technicians replacing a damaged or worn-out keyboard. It is a medium-size keyboard with a US & UK layout and carries a 3-month warranty.
This is a replacement (compatible) part that features the same key layout and functions as the original keyboard. It is made of durable materials, with responsive keys and comfortable key travel for a smooth typing experience.
Key Features
- Wide Asus coverage: listed for the K42, A42, K42D, K42J, A42J, K42F, K43, K43BR, K43BY, K43E, K43TA, K43TK, K43U and K43S.
- Original-style layout: same key positions and functions as the factory keyboard, so there is nothing new to learn.
- US & UK layout: the standard English layout for these models.
- Durable build: responsive keys designed for everyday typing.
- 3-month warranty: cover for the first three months after fitting.
Best For
- Asus K42 and K43 laptops with keys that no longer respond or repeat on their own.
- Keyboards damaged by liquid spills or physical knocks.
- Laptops with missing keycaps or worn-off letters.
- Computer repair shops that service older Asus machines.
The K42 and K43 families shared parts across many sub-models, so one keyboard covers a wide range of these Asus laptops. That makes it a practical spare for technicians who see these machines often.
Things to Check Before Buying
- Find the model code on the sticker under your laptop and match it to the list above.
- Check your current layout: UK keyboards have a tall Enter key, US keyboards a wide one.
- Before replacing, try an external USB keyboard; if it works normally, the fault is in the laptop keyboard rather than the motherboard.
- Switch off and remove the battery before installation, and release the ribbon cable latch carefully.
- Test every key, including Fn shortcuts, soon after fitting.
