If you are searching for the HP EliteBook 840 G8 price in BD, you are probably looking for a slim, solid 14 inch business laptop that will feel fast for the next few years without paying new-laptop prices. It is one of the most common used business laptops you will see in Bangladeshi shops right now, and for good reason. In this review we explain what the 840 G8 is good at, where it falls short, which RAM and SSD configuration to buy, and how it compares with the older 840 G7 and the newer 840 G9.

HP EliteBook 840 G8 at a Glance

The EliteBook 840 G8 is HP's 14 inch business laptop from the 2021 generation. It was built for offices and corporate users, which is why so many of them come to the used market in good condition after company lease periods end. The units we sell share these core specs:

• Processor: Intel Core i5 11th Gen (Tiger Lake), a 4-core, 8-thread chip
• Graphics: Intel Iris Xe Graphics
• Display: 14 inch Full HD (1920x1080)
• RAM: 8GB or 16GB DDR4
• Storage: 256GB or 512GB SSD
• Operating system: Windows 10/11 ready

In daily use that means quick boot times, smooth multitasking with Office, Chrome, Zoom and Google Meet, and enough power for light photo editing, Canva, coding and freelancing work.

Across the Bangladeshi used laptop market, other shops currently list the 840 G8 Core i5 between roughly 35,000 and 39,000 Tk for 8GB/256GB units and roughly 38,500 to 44,500 Tk for 16GB units. Prices vary a lot because condition, battery health, grading and warranty are not the same everywhere. A cheaper listing with no warranty and an unknown battery can end up costing more once you replace a battery or charger. Whatever shop you buy from, compare the full package, not just the number.

What We Like About the 840 G8

11th Gen performance and Iris Xe graphics

The jump from 10th Gen to 11th Gen Intel on these laptops is noticeable. The 11th Gen Core i5 feels snappier in everyday work, and Iris Xe graphics is clearly better than the older Intel UHD graphics for things like video playback, light editing and running several monitors. One important detail: Iris Xe works at its full level only when the RAM runs in dual channel (two memory sticks). That is one more reason we prefer the 16GB version.

Business-class build

The EliteBook series uses a metal body that feels solid and does not flex like most budget plastic laptops. The keyboard is comfortable for long typing sessions, which matters for students writing assignments and freelancers writing all day.

Ports and connectivity

You get USB-C (which also works for charging and display output), regular USB-A ports and HDMI, so you can connect a monitor, projector, mouse and pen drive without buying a pile of adapters.

Windows 11 ready

The 11th Gen processor is fully supported by Windows 11, so you are not stuck on an old operating system.

What to Keep in Mind

• Battery is used: like any used laptop, battery health depends on the previous owner. Ask for the battery report before buying. Our guide on how to check a used laptop before buying shows exactly what to look at.
• Not a gaming laptop: there is no dedicated graphics card. Light games are fine, heavy 3D games and serious video rendering are not what this laptop is for.
• Full HD screen, not a colour-accurate display: fine for office work, study and general design, but professional colour work needs a calibrated external monitor.
• 8GB fills up fast: with many Chrome tabs, Zoom and Office open together, 8GB can start to feel tight.

8GB vs 16GB: Which 840 G8 Configuration Should You Buy?

This is the most common question we get about the HP EliteBook 840 G8 8GB RAM version vs the 16GB version. Here is our honest advice.

Choose the 8GB/256GB model if

• You mainly use Office, browsing, YouTube and online classes
• Your budget is closer to 40,000 Tk
• You are okay adding RAM later. A laptop RAM stick such as the Netac 8GB DDR4 3200MHz laptop RAM can be added if a slot is free. Ask us to check the slot before you order.

Choose the 16GB/512GB model if

• You do freelancing, programming, graphic design or keep many tabs open
• You want Iris Xe running in dual channel from day one
• You store a lot of files, projects or videos and do not want to manage a small 256GB drive

The price gap is 4,700 Tk at offer prices. Adding 8GB RAM and a bigger SSD separately would cost close to that or more, plus the hassle. For most buyers the 840 G8 16GB/512GB is the better long-term buy. Read our 8GB vs 16GB RAM guide if you are still unsure.

HP EliteBook 840 G8 vs 840 G7 vs 840 G9

The 840 G7, G8 and G9 look similar from the outside, but they sit at different price points. Here is how they compare in our stock.

840 G8 vs 840 G7: the G7 is about 2,500 Tk cheaper for the same 8GB / 256GB configuration. You get a 10th Gen processor and older UHD graphics. If every taka counts and you only need office work, the G7 is still a good laptop, and our Grade A G7 units also carry 15 Days Replacement. If you can stretch a little, the G8 is the more future-proof choice.

840 G8 vs 840 G9: the G9 has a 12th Gen processor with more cores and a taller 16:10 WUXGA screen, which is nice for documents and coding. But it costs about 11,500 Tk more than the G8 16GB, and our G9 is listed as Pre-owned without a listed warranty. For most people the G8 gives the best value; the G9 makes sense if you need the extra CPU power for heavy multitasking or development work.
