সংক্ষেপে: The laptop price in BD from 15000 to 20000 taka mostly gets you an older used business laptop, usually a Core i5 from around the 6th to 7th generation with 4–8GB RAM. Right now our only laptop in this budget is the Dell Latitude 7470 Core i5 6th Gen with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD at 19,340 Tk (regular 19,840 Tk), available on pre-order. If you can stretch to about 30,000 Tk, you get a newer 8th or 10th Gen laptop.
If you are searching for a laptop price in BD of 15000 to 20000 taka, you probably need a working laptop for classes, office files or browsing, and you cannot spend more. That is a real need, and this guide is honest about it: at this budget the choice is small, the laptops are older, and checking before you pay matters more than at any other price. Below you will find what this money buys in the used market, the laptop we currently sell under 20,000 Tk, a few options if you can stretch a little, and a clear list of what to check and what to avoid.
What 15,000 to 20,000 Taka Buys in the Used Market
New laptops in this budget are rare, so most people look at second hand laptops. In general terms, here is what a used laptop under 20,000 taka usually looks like:
- Processor: an older Intel Core i5 from a business laptop, typically from the 6th to 7th generation era. You may also see much older chips at this price, and those are noticeably slower.
- RAM: usually 4GB or 8GB. 8GB makes a big difference with a modern browser and Windows.
- Storage: the most important part. An SSD is a must. A laptop with only a hard disk (HDD) will feel slow no matter which processor it has.
- Body: business laptops (Dell Latitude, HP EliteBook, Lenovo ThinkPad) were built for office use, so a well kept one can still be solid even after years of service.
- Windows: many 6th and 7th Gen processors are not officially supported by Windows 11, so these laptops usually run Windows 10.
In short, a 15,000–20,000 taka laptop is a basic tool, not a powerful one. Bought carefully, it can still do daily work well.

Why the Dell Latitude 7470 makes sense at this budget
- 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD: the two things that matter most for a smooth basic laptop, already included.
- Core i5: a full Core i5 rather than a Celeron or Pentium, which is common in cheap new laptops.
- Business build: the Latitude 7000 series sits above the mainstream 5000 series in Dell's business range.
- 14 inch screen: a practical size for carrying to class or office.
One honest note: this laptop runs Windows 10, because Windows 11 is not officially supported on this CPU. For basic office work, online classes and browsing that is fine, but you should know it before you buy. You can see more Dell options in our used Dell laptop section.
Who a Laptop Under 20,000 Taka Suits
A laptop in this budget is a good fit if your work is light:
- Students on a tight budget: assignments in Word, slides, PDF reading and research.
- Online classes: Zoom, Google Meet and Google Classroom.
- Basic office work: Excel sheets, email, invoices and simple accounting software.
- Browsing and entertainment: YouTube, news and social media.
- A second laptop: for a shop counter, a family member or a backup machine.
Who should stretch to 20,000–30,000 taka
If any of these describe you, saving a little more will usually serve you better:
- You want Windows 11, which needs a newer processor (8th Gen and later Intel chips are generally on Microsoft's supported list).
- You plan to learn programming, run Android Studio, or keep many browser tabs open at once.
- You want to start freelancing, graphic design or light photo editing.
- You need the laptop to stay useful for several more years.
We cover that budget in detail in our guide to laptop price in BD 20000 to 30000 taka.

What to Check Before You Buy a Laptop Under 20,000 Taka
At this price, the laptop is older, so a careful check protects your money. Our full list is in how to check a used laptop before buying, but these are the most important points:
- Confirm it has an SSD. Open Task Manager, go to the Performance tab and look at the disk type. If it says HDD, expect slow startup and slow apps.
- Check the real processor generation. Open Settings, then System, then About. "Core i5" alone means little; the generation tells you how old it is.
- Check the RAM. 8GB is the comfortable minimum today. With 4GB, ask whether it can be upgraded and what that costs.
- Test the battery. Run "powercfg /batteryreport" in Command Prompt and compare full charge capacity with design capacity. Old laptops often have worn batteries, so plan to use it near a plug if it is weak.
- Test the keyboard, touchpad and ports. Type every key, plug in a USB device and a charger, and check that the webcam, mic and speakers work for online classes.
- Look at the screen. Check for dead pixels, dark patches or lines with a plain white and black background.
- Check the charger and hinge. A loose hinge or a cheap non-original charger can be a sign of rough use.
What to Avoid at This Budget
- HDD-only laptops: cheap, but frustrating to use. If the price is very low, ask whether an SSD is included.
- Very old generations: Very old Core i5 laptops (for example 2nd to 4th Gen) can look cheap, but they struggle with today's browsers and updates.
- Fake "refurbished" claims: a laptop with just a new sticker and a fresh Windows install is not refurbished. Ask what was checked and replaced, and get the exact model name so you can compare.
- Unclear prices or specs: if the seller cannot tell you the processor generation, RAM and storage, walk away.
- Paying full amount before seeing it: prefer Cash on Delivery, so you can check the laptop when it arrives.
Which One Should You Buy?
- Under 20,000 Tk, for basic office work, online classes and browsing: the Dell Latitude 7470 Core i5 6th Gen at 19,340 Tk (pre-order). It already has 8GB RAM and an SSD.

- If you want a laptop you can order right now: the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Core i5 10th Gen at 30,000 Tk is in stock, with a newer 10th Gen processor in a small 13.3 inch body.
