The same model can be listed at very different prices on Facebook, in local markets and in online shops. Why Refurbished Business Laptops?
Business laptops like the HP EliteBook, Dell Latitude and Lenovo ThinkPad were built for offices. They usually have stronger bodies, better keyboards and easier upgrades than many budget consumer laptops. When a company replaces its laptops after a few years, these units come back into the market, and after testing and cleaning they offer good performance for the money.

How Processor Generation Affects Price
The biggest factor in used laptop prices is the Intel processor generation. Here is a simple way to think about it:
- 7th Gen (e.g. EliteBook 840 G4, Latitude 5490): The most affordable option. Fine for office work, browsing, online classes and light multitasking.
- 8th Gen (e.g. EliteBook 840 G5/G6, ThinkPad T480/T490, Latitude 5400): Quad-core processors in this generation make a noticeable jump in multitasking over 7th Gen dual-core chips. This is the sweet spot for most students and office users.
- 10th Gen (e.g. EliteBook 840 G7, ProBook 440 G7, ThinkPad L14/T14): Better efficiency and newer features. Good for freelancers and heavier multitasking.
- 11th Gen (e.g. EliteBook 840 G8, Latitude 5420): Much stronger integrated graphics (Intel Iris Xe on most i5/i7 models), helpful for light photo and video editing.
Other Things That Change the Price
- RAM: 8GB is the practical minimum in 2026. 16GB costs more but helps a lot with many browser tabs, design software and virtual machines.
- Storage: An SSD is essential. A 256GB SSD is fine for most users; 512GB costs extra.
- Display: Full HD (1920x1080) panels and touchscreens usually cost more than HD (1366x768) versions.
- Condition and battery: Cosmetic grade and battery health affect price. Ask what grade the laptop is before you buy.
