Corelink W-20BL Optical Power Meter: Overview
The Corelink W-20BL is a budget handheld optical power meter for ISP technicians and fiber installation teams who need to check signal levels on fiber links. It measures the optical power arriving on a fiber, which tells you whether a connection is healthy before you hand it over to a customer.
A power meter is one of the first tools every FTTH technician needs. Checking power at the ONU end after an installation, or when a customer reports slow or dropped internet, quickly shows whether the problem is on the fiber or somewhere else.
As a budget model, it is a good choice for new technicians, small ISPs equipping several field staff, or as a second meter for a busy team.
Key Features
- Handheld OPM: a portable meter for field work on poles, in buildings and in network rooms.
- Budget model: an affordable way to give every technician their own meter.
- Corelink brand: a familiar name in local fiber tools and accessories.
- Fast fault checks: confirm whether a fiber link has signal and how strong it is.
Best For
New FTTH installations, customer fault visits, checking patch cords and splitter outputs, training new technicians, and small ISPs building their first toolkit.
Things to Check Before Buying
- Ask us for the measuring range and supported wavelengths, since they are not listed in our product facts, and make sure they cover your PON network.
- Check which connector adapters it supports, SC, FC or others, for your patch cords.
- Check the battery type so you can carry spares in the field.
- Consider pairing it with a VFL for locating breaks near connectors.
- Always select the correct wavelength before taking a reading.
FAQs about Corelink W-20BL
Q: What does an optical power meter do?
A: It measures how much light reaches the end of a fiber, usually in dBm, so you can tell whether a link is within working limits.
Q: Will it work on my EPON or GPON network?
A: That depends on the supported wavelengths. Ask us to confirm before buying.
Q: Can it find where a fiber is broken?
A: A power meter shows that signal is low or missing, but not where. Use a VFL to locate breaks near connectors.
