Cudy GS1010PE 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Switch with 2 Uplinks: Overview
The Cudy GS1010PE is an 8-port Gigabit PoE+ unmanaged switch with two Gigabit uplink ports, designed for small CCTV systems, home offices, shops and small businesses that need to power IP cameras or access points. It provides a 120W PoE budget with up to 30W per port, plus an extend mode that supports cable runs up to 250 m.
Extend mode is useful when a camera sits far from the network cabinet, for example at a gate, car park or boundary wall. Instead of adding another switch in the middle, you can enable extend mode to reach further, with a lower data rate on that link.
Key Features
- 8x Gigabit PoE+ ports: power and connect up to eight PoE devices.
- 2x Gigabit uplinks: connect to your NVR and router without using PoE ports.
- 120W PoE budget, 30W per port: enough for typical cameras and access points within the total.
- Extend mode up to 250 m: reach distant cameras beyond the normal Ethernet distance.
- Unmanaged: plug-and-play with no configuration needed.
Best For
- Small CCTV systems for homes, shops and pharmacies.
- Cameras at gates, parking areas or far corners of a building.
- Small offices with a few PoE access points.
- Installers who want a simple, reliable PoE switch.
Things to Check Before Buying
- Add up the power of all connected devices and keep it within 120W total and 30W per port.
- Check that your devices use standard PoE or PoE+ and not passive PoE.
- Use extend mode only for long runs; on that mode the link speed is reduced, which is fine for most cameras.
- Use good quality copper cable for long runs; poor cable reduces both distance and power delivery.
- Connect the switch to a UPS so cameras keep recording during power cuts.
FAQs about Cudy GS1010PE
Q: What is extend mode on the GS1010PE?
A: Extend mode lets a port reach up to 250 m, longer than a normal Ethernet run, by working at a lower speed. It is useful for distant cameras.
Q: Can one port power a 30W device?
A: Yes, each port is rated up to 30W, but the total for all ports must stay within 120W.
Q: Does it need any setup?
A: No. It is an unmanaged switch, so it works as soon as you connect it.
