TP-Link EAP115 300Mbps Ceiling Mount Access Point: Overview
The TP-Link EAP115 is a 2.4 GHz N300 ceiling mount access point for small offices, shops, restaurants and guest houses that need simple, centrally managed WiFi. It has one 10/100 RJ45 port, is powered by passive PoE and works with the TP-Link Omada controller.
A ceiling access point spreads WiFi more evenly than a router placed in one corner. With Omada, several EAP115 units can be managed together, so a café, pharmacy or small hotel can cover more rooms with one network name and one place to change settings.
Key Features
- 2.4 GHz N300 WiFi: wireless for phones, laptops and POS devices, with good wall penetration on the 2.4 GHz band.
- 1x 10/100 RJ45 port: one cable connects the access point to your network.
- Passive PoE: power and data on one cable, so no socket is needed on the ceiling.
- Ceiling mount design: a neat installation that blends into offices and shops and spreads signal downward.
- Omada controller support: manage several access points, SSIDs and guest networks from one place.
Best For
- Small offices, shops and pharmacies.
- Restaurants, cafés and guest houses with basic guest WiFi.
- Coaching centres where students mostly browse and attend online classes.
- Budget multi-AP setups managed by Omada.
Things to Check Before Buying
- This model uses passive PoE, so you need a compatible passive PoE injector or switch; a standard 802.3af switch may not power it. Ask us what comes with the unit.
- The port is 10/100 and WiFi is 2.4 GHz only, so it suits basic browsing and small user counts rather than heavy streaming.
- Plan the ceiling position near the centre of the area you want to cover.
- If you want central management, set up an Omada controller (software or hardware) before installing many units.
- Keep the PoE source on a UPS so WiFi stays up during load-shedding.
Wi-Fi Performance Notes
The EAP115 is a 2.4 GHz-only access point. This band reaches further through walls but is often crowded in city buildings. If many neighbours use 2.4 GHz WiFi, or you need faster speeds for video calls and streaming, a dual-band model such as the EAP225 may be a better choice.
